Spider Veins

What are Spider (Telangiectasia) Veins?

These are well-defined small veins from 0.1mm to 1mm in diameter.  They often appear on the surface layer of the skin as scattered irregular veins in clusters of varying density.  They are often of cosmetic concern to many patients because of their appearance.  These veins may appear on the thigh, leg, ankle, and foot.  Spider Veins also may cause symptoms including pain, burning, and fatigue that increase with prolonged standing or sitting.  It is not uncommon for patients and most often women to change their lifestyles because of the symptoms of Spider Veins.
