Venous Malformations

What are Venus Malformations?

There is a spectrum of vein disorders, ranging from simple spider veins to complex recurrent and non-healing venous leg ulcers. Venous disease is progressive and worsens over time without preventive and maintenance treatment.  The presence of spider and varicose veins may indicate an underlying vein condition called venous insufficiency. Over time, venous insufficiency can cause a worsening appearance of varicose and spider veins, bleeding, phlebitis, ankle swelling, skin discoloration and eventually in the most severe cases, leg ulceration.  The spectrum of venous disease ranges from simple skin veins to organ dysfunction.
